Caroline Casey: There’s some sort of law written in this universe that says: all Irish women are sexy. This young lady is no exception. And she is inspirational too. If you feel you’re stuck in a rut or limited by something, this video is for you. Her website is here.
Hello again. It is glorious weather here in the UK at the moment. And where am I? Yes, that’s right, I’m working on video content for my coaching and personal development websites. Dedication is my middle name. Well, not on my birth certificate, obviously. I made the video to show the power of asking useful, targeted questions like: what happens when you imagine feeling good about yourself right now? And: What would have to happen for you to feel good about yourself right now?
We all have hectic lives these days and we go through a variety of emotions and reactions to things. And we can’t feel good all the time. That would be unnatural. But what we can do is take our focus and ask ourselves useful questions to help ourselves feel better and create a positive, calm, relaxed state from where we can more effectively overcome our challenges and achieve our goals.
My mate, Joseph Clough, answers some questions from people posting on his Facebook fan page. Including my question: what happens when you imagine feeling good about yourself right now?
This is my little experiment. I’ve been having fun creating a very short video advert for this blog. It’s not the final version and I have no idea why I put the tree in at the end. Probably just liked the picture. But I hope it gets across the main message of this website and how it helps people improve their confidence and self esteem.
Inspiring message from Nerina Pallot (beyond talented singer/songwriter I really wish was my wife but she’s not….) about how she went through a tough time in her life and turned things around. This is my gift for anyone currently going through a tough time right now. Process it, feel it, secure yourself and reach out for love and support. You are worth fighting for. Your health is important. You matter and you are good enough.
Cardiff In The Sun: Yesterday was one of those lazy Sundays which involved (along with the discovery that I mistook quite a large part of France for some kind of island) soaking up the sun by the river.
Not for the first time since being here, I found myself in awe of the beauty of Cardiff. I take issue with some of the things in the promotional video above. Cardiff’s shopping is better than in Milan? Pure and utter rubbish. Saint David’s 2 is not going to hold its own against Milan. And I notice nobody bothered to put Ely and Splott in this video.
That said, walking in glorious sunshine past a castle, across and then alongside a beautiful river with greenery surrounding me is and was quite a treat.
I have a soft spot for Wales. You don’t spend three years in the depths of North Wales (when it’s not raining, it snows) studying at university if you don’t have a love for the sheer beauty of the landscape, the friendliness of the people, the spark of the culture and the beat of a nation’s heart.
There have been some awful days in Cardiff. But none of them had anything to do with the place itself. And the rest of the time since summer 2009 has been amazing.
The only weird things to happen in Cardiff to me were the time I was picked up and hugged by some random rugby fan and the moment a very drunk woman from Surrey decided to give me an impromptu reading of my subconscious.
If you want to come to a place and feel good about yourself, Cardiff is one of the best places you can pick.
Now just put a Welsh Parliament where the Welsh Assembly is. Yes, I’m a 70% English man who supports some of the Welsh nationalist ideas. Go figure. I’m a complicated guy.
Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing, have an amazing.
In 2008, I started a blog called Joinmartin.wordpress.com about my year long challenge to learn as many languages as I could. That blog became hugely successful, featured in the media and attracted more than 50,000 visitors from more than 50 countries.
This blog is my next project. Inspired by reading an article in a national newspaper about how a six year old girl was already questioning whether she was good enough (she’d written things like “I’m ugly”, “I’m stupid” in her diary), I decided to launch something with the basic aim of sticking two fingers up to the fashion industry, some elements of the mass media, peer pressure and anything else that makes it it’s mission statement to preach that people aren’t okay.
This is the place where we encourage people to embrace everything about themselves, accept themselves as they are now and free themselves up to make the positive changes they want to make in their lives. This is the place where we celebrate the truth that each and every person is beautiful and attractive in their own way and the very definition of beauty and attraction is a relative, subjective phenomenon. This is the place where people can feel good about themselves as they are. It’s not “head in the clouds” thinking. This is positivity written in concrete.
What could we do as people if we actually spent most of the time feeling good about ourselves? This isn’t about ignoring problems or difficulties. It’s about helping people face those problems and meet those challenges from a position where they understand and deeply appreciate everything that is great about them. None of us are perfect. But then again, perfection has nowhere to go, nowhere to move and nowhere to make changes. So we don’t want to be perfect. We want to be human.
As much as I love being on my soap box about this, the idea is that people will join the Feel Good About Yourself team and contribute articles and stories to enhance the content of this blog and promote its message to a wider audience.
I also intend to create a resources section where parents and guardians who are worried about how they can enhance and protect the self esteem and confidence of their children can find sources of help and guidance. I haven’t got all the answers on this one. What I do have is a megaphone and a penchant for making a noise.
So I’m going to ask the question: what would have to happen for you to feel good about yourself right now?
Core Confidence For Men: Like it or not, a man’s self esteem can sometimes revolve around whether he feels he’s attractive to women or not. It’s not a good state to be in but it happens.
It’s an open secret that I’ve spent time in the pick up world and worked with a number of men on increasing their self esteem and confidence with the opposite sex. I’ve listened to hundreds of “inner game” products and Jamie Smart’s “Attracting Women From The Inside Out” was the only one to really make me sit up and think. The only one to change how I thought about this kind of stuff.
I make it a policy to only recommend products and services on this blog when I am assured of the authenticity and congruence of the people providing those products and services. And it gives me great pleasure to recommend Jamie’s work as one of the best out there.
